Spring is here
At last, Spring is here! Our favourite season at Closet & Botts.
It’s a chance to bring the outdoors in, with gorgeous blossoms and wildflowers, and inject some colour and life back into the home after the bleak winter months.
We really enjoyed compiling our Easter collection. A selection of Easter decorations, Easter Tableware, Easter candles and Easter Gifts. The response was amazing. It has meant so much to us, but more importantly it has kept our business going through such challenging times for all small independent businesses.
Easter is a special time in our house. Laying the Easter table is something I have loved doing ever since I was a child. My mum would get out her special spring posy vases and ask me to go and pick primroses from the garden. The smell of Mum’s roast lamb and apple crumble emerging from our cosy kitchen is a memory I hold very dear.
I have been searching for Mustard Napkins for myself for years so was thrilled this year to have found them along with a beautiful Slate Blue option too.
I love coming up with home decoration ideas and this year I decorated my table with fresh blossom, silk daffodils and our birds eggs decorations along with many mustard candles.
I hope you all had a lovely Bank holiday and Easter weekend.
Over the coming months, as lockdown eases, we can all start to enjoy a bit more freedom. Dinner parties and family dinners are something I have missed so much. I for one can’t wait to start setting the table for more than the two of us!
The first couple of weeks of April were spent preparing for the grand reopening on the 12th. It felt so good to transform the shop from online depot back into our beloved little shop space. We loved creating our spring window. Lots of blossom and colour!
So after 3 long months of lockdown, it felt amazing to fling the doors open on Monday the 12th and welcome our wonderful customers back. The shop is feeling all fresh and very Spring like. We are so excited for the coming months. Lots of window displays to play with and new stock to find. Our range of linen clothes from Not perfect Linen is now in store and we are thrilled to now be stocking some beautiful cardigans from the fabulous Swedish brand Emmy all of which will be available online in the next couple of weeks.
We recently had a photo shoot with the amazing Laura from Ticking stripe Photography to showcase out Spring/Summer clothing line. Our location was local artist Nicola Maxwell-Gumbleton's beautiful home here in Lewes. Her art room and garden made the perfect backdrop to our range of linen dressed, cropped cardigans and timeless denim.
With the news that lockdown is starting to be eased across the England also comes the welcome news that antique fairs and markets will be starting up again! Hooray! We are going to be getting out to as many as possible this Summer! We can’t wait to inject a bit of vintage back into the shop this season. We went to our first one last week and it felt wonderful! The sun was shining and we were smiling from ear to ear!
